The journey from Malé, the capital city of Maldives, to Huraa is only 20 minutes by speed boat. There is also a local ferry that will take you to your destination in about an hour.

Huraa is well known in the Maldivian history as the last royal dynasty to rule over Maldives. It was founded in 1757 by Sultan Hurage Dhonbandara. The island is very important because it included kings, prime ministers and many people who held important government posts.

The island is famous among the Maldivians because of the huge lake filled with mangrove trees. It is a place that protects the habitats for many endangered species.
